Kaeden’s been super needy and clingy (not “klinky”, mom! :)) these past couple of days. I’m not sure why, but he’s now doing the “grab onto my legs while I try to clean the kitchen” type of thing.
So, today, I decided to take him to join Kris’ class at the science centre. The kids again, flocked to see him, giving him so much attention and love. There were also some parents from the 5th grade class there too, and it was a great time for me to be able to visit with them.
The science centre is definitely some place I’ll go again. It’s carpeted, spacious, and best of all, free for teachers! :) And Kaeden just has a ball there.
(Did I mention air conditioning too???)

No playgroup, but there’s a flower shop
So, I’ve been searching in vain for things I could do to keep me sane. I can’t find a job that involves me leaving the house and actually meeting with other adults, so I’ve since made it my mission to find things for Kaeden to do (like a daycare, or a playgroup, or a class, or something so that he can start socializing).
Well, all of the above have been pretty close to my job-hunting results, until today, when I decided to go for a walk in our village. It’s sort of like the Neighbourhood song from Sesame Street…. We went to the library, hung out with the librarians. Then we went to the Post Office, hung out with the clerks there (who know us pretty well now), and ended up at our favourite florist (who REALLY knows us). She’s an awesome lady, and I told her I was just stopping by for a visit. She invited me into the back, where her husband or some sort of male relative was making tea. They invited me for some, which I politely declined, then offered it to Kaeden. Luckily, he wasn’t interested. But many random people then took him from my arms and gave him all the social attention he was craving. I was then invited back to meet another little friend of theirs – an 8 month old girl who also just drops by.
So some morning, we’ll go back, Kaeden and I, and have our first Mandarin playgroup – in the flower shop.

A Gaggle of Gals
Kris had his fourth-grade class come over this morning to our house for a waffle breakfast party. At the time, Kaeden was sleeping, but woke up before the party was over. I brought him out, and he was wide-eyed in shock for a very long time. I set him on the carpet, at which time a flock of girls surrounded him (there were at least 8 of them!). I don’t think he knew what to do! After about 15 minutes of this intense attention, Kaeden decided to get up and walk away. But little did he know that the group of girls would all be there to help him. It was hilarious watching him with his entourage. It was also a blessing to see how many kids just love him – even some of the boys were incredibly affectionate towards him!

Orange you glad I got these?
Matthias also came over for a while today to play. Kaeden squealed in delight at the sight of him, then proceeded to pounce on the poor little guy. I think he though Matti was a new toy. It was also
This evening, Kaeden went beserk over Panda. He started off trying to roll him, then wrestle him, and eventually, he wanted to pick him up and walk with this gigantic toy. He was so sweaty and yet kept doing this for over a half hour! No wonder he’s so tiny… ten hours a day of pure physical exertion.
He’s such a delight! I love my boy.

No Don Quixote
Kris took Kaeden outside with him and started reading Don Quixote to him. He looked up and found Kaeden holding both his hands to his ears, just smiling up at Kris. Guess he doesn’t like the works of Miguel des Cervantes.
