New Year’s Eve (a.k.a. Kaeden’s First Christmas at Home)

We pretended tonight was Christmas Eve and let Kaeden open one present. He was thrilled (at least, we were!).

Airport Antics

Kaeden had a great time at the airports on the way home from Malaysia. First he got to see a rainforest INSIDE the airport, then he got to play tug of war (see the video on dropshots).

K.L. Shopping

We spent the day at malls 173around K.L. We passed by a Crocs store, and since Kaeden seems to love everyone’s Crocs, I wanted to see if he would fall in love with the giant Hello Kitty one. Unfortunately, we couldn’t buy it. We did find a good deal on these Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme cards. We bought them for Kaeden, and placed them in his lap. Kaeden looked at them, then 179looked up at us with a glimmer of a smile, as if to say, “Really? They’re for me?!” He proceeded to do his double kicks, holding tightly onto them as we strolled around the mall. Next thing we know, he’s fast asleep, and has tucked his new present under his legs to keep them safe.

Kaeden’s New Friend

Boxing Day – but not here, although it seems like all Malaysians do is eat and shop. They probably have the most shopping malls per capita!
Kaeden & Riley have become as good friends as a toddler and an infant can get. It’s hilarious watching the two of them!

Kaeden’s First Christmas (Day)

034Kaeden’s first Christmas was definitely unconventional. We went to Malaysia with missionary friends, and started the day off with a buffet of Malaysian goodies, then went to a resort where we lounged by the pool & beach. Kaeden was so exhausted by midafternoon that he just zonked out in his stroller in the warm tropical breeze, while his mommy got a foot massage as a Christmas present :). In the evening, we all went to the Toy Museum cause isn’t that what you do on Christmas Day?

First Christmas Eve

SLR (4)Kaeden’s first Christmas Eve was spent on the island of Penang in Malaysia. Lucky guy got to meet three different Santas, and eat a very traditional roti with curry Christmas Eve dinner (I’m being sarcastic). Maybe we’ll make that into a tradition! He had a blast hanging out with his new friend, 18-month-old Riley.
I love how Kaeden looks very suspicious of the Santas in each one of the photos! Each Santa gave him a different gift, including candy, candy canes, and the ever popular Cereal packet.

Going to Malaysia

It’s been a long day! We headed out around 9am this morning, and arrived at our hotel in Kuala Lumpur after 9pm. Kaeden hates the plane and just cried and cried. Poor little guy. But he met his new friend Riley, who is 10 months older than him. They inspected each other and we think the friendship has been okayed.

Kaeden’s Second Day in Taipei

238It was VERY cold, so Kaeden was very bundled up. He was very amused at the sight of his first Taiwanese sausage (it was YUMMY!), and fascinated by his mittens.229
At one point in the day, he fell fast asleep with his arms stuck in the air. Maybe he was too bundled up?
We stayed at Auntie Rebecca’s house, and she had a present for him! Sorry, Auntie Rebecca, but the wrapping was my favourite part!

Christmas in Taipei – Day 1

196190We’re going to celebrate Christmas in three locations this year, the first being Taipei. We took the HSR up, and Kaeden fell fast asleep. We met up with our good friend Marcy there, and got to hang out a bit 205with her in her very warm apartment (Taipei was rainy and cold!!). He also had the chance to meet the Alvin and the Chipmunks, but he just wouldn’t wake up to see them.210
Kaeden also got his first Christmas present. We saw this giant monkey with a pokable belly button, and couldn’t resist it. So we bought it for him, courtesy of Popo and Gonggong since they had sent us money to buy something for him. What was doubly fun was seeing everyone’s reactions of a giant monkey atop a stroller with a tiny baby.
Oh. And Kaeden LOVES the monkey!
